Biography
Brian A. Rawers is the General Counsel for Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company. Prior to assuming that position on August 1, 2015, Mr. Rawers was a partner in the San Diego office of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith, LLP for 14 years.
Mr. Rawers has been practicing law since 1982. After several years as a JAG in the United States Marine Corps, he started practicing Civil law in San Diego. From 1987 to 2015, Mr. Rawers had over 60 jury trials. He had trials in a multitude of areas, including Medical Malpractice, Attorney Malpractice, Dental Malpractice, Real Estate Broker Malpractice, Product Liability, Environmental Law, Employment Law, Slip and Fall, Auto, Construction Defect, Sexual Abuse, Wrongful Termination, General Liability and several other areas. He is a member of the San Diego ABOTA Chapter and is a past-President of that Chapter (2013). He is also a member of the San Diego Defenses Lawyers (President- 2010) and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Rawers also advised companies on Employment issues and drafted Employee Handbooks. He has also been a speaker on many topics, including “So You Want to Take a Deposition?”; “Top Ten Mistakes in Practicing Law”; “How to Give an Opening Statement”; and “The Three Secrets to Successful Voir Dire”.
Mr. Rawers has been the Emcee for several San Diego Defense Lawyer Installation Dinners, and also for The Red Boudreau Dinner.
