Sarah Brand
Biography
Sarah Brand serves as a Deputy Public Defender with the Office of the Primary Public Defender in San Diego. Over the past several years, she has been assigned to a Felony Trial Team, managing all facets of litigation including arraignments, preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions, bench and jury trials, and sentencing proceedings. Her trial experience encompasses a broad spectrum of jury trials ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. Additionally, Ms. Brand has substantial experience with mental health litigation, diversion programs, pretrial negotiations, and the preparation and examination of expert witnesses during both hearings and trials.
Ms. Brand is dedicated to mentoring and guiding law students in the field of trial advocacy. Since joining her office, she has had the opportunity to supervise and mentor aspiring lawyers, and she was previously a member and later an instructor of Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s National Trial Team.
